Minimally invasive surgery
We perform all our surgeries using minimally invasive techniques, even the most complex procedures and revisions. Minimally invasive surgery, as opposed to the traditional open surgery, allows not only for smaller scars and better cosmesis, but also for reduced risk of wound complications, less risk of incisional hernias, significantly less pain, a faster recovery and a quicker return to work and normal activities. Minimally invasive surgery has revolutionized the field of bariatric surgery and gastro-intestinal surgery, making them much safer and wide spread. Today, our surgeons approach all surgeries exclusively using these techniques and have each performed thousands of minimally invasive surgeries.
Cutting edge technology
At VHC Health, we have the latest cutting-edge technologies at our disposal. The laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment we use is all state-of-the-art and is constantly updated to stay in step with the rapidly evolving technology. We employ high-definition cameras and wide screen LED 4K surgical displays for superior image quality and excellent detail recognition, which in turn adds to the surgical safety.
We also have the latest generation in surgical robotics, Intuitive Surgical’s Da Vinci Xi, which has more capabilities than previous models and is optimized for complex procedures such as bariatric surgeries, anti reflux surgeries and complex hernia repairs. Unlike what the designation as “robotic” might suggest, this is not an automated surgical system. Rather, it's remote controlled by the surgeon who is sitting right next to it in the operating room with the patient, and is in control of the da Vinci System at all times. The benefit of the da Vinci system is that it allows the surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control by using a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand. The da Vinci technology translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, precise movements of these tiny instruments inside your body.
Master Robotic Surgeons
Dr. Salameh and Dr. David are one of the earlier adopters of robotic technology in bariatric and general surgery in the Washington DC metropolitan area. They have been performing robotic surgery since 2012 and each have an extensive experience of a thousand surgeries on the platform. They have both been conferred the designation of “Master Surgeon” in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) which indicates that a surgeon has achieved a high level of proficiency and expertise in the field of robotic surgery. Surgeons who hold this prestigious title have demonstrated exceptional skills, knowledge, and experience through rigorous evaluation and examination processes conducted by the SRC. The Master Surgeon designation signifies a commitment to upholding the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care.
